There maybe nurseries and businesses that will accept some types of pots for reuse.
Commercial nurseries usually don't accept smaller sizes as they can be too time consuming to clean. Most
nurseries won't accept pots with competitors' labels because they won't be able to reuse them.
If you have a collection of smaller pots it is recommended you clean them and find other ways to reuse
them. You could check with your local schools to see if they have any kind of seedling programs.
Another option is to try growing next year's vegetable starts in them. Here are a few options for your plastic
pots. As with most programs, call ahead to find out hours your donation will be accepted.
In Washington State - Puget Sound Area:
South Puget Sound Community College's horticultural program accepts 4- and 6-inch pots, and nursery trays
that are sturdy and reusable. Donations can be dropped off at the main campus, 2011 Mottman Road S.W.,
Olympia, at the picnic table under the overhang at the potting shed, which is next to the campus greenhouse
near Building 29 (across from the gymnasium) on the outer loop road. Go to www.spscc.ctc.edu for a map of
the campus or call 360-596-5219.
